This project was inspired by the "Get an Airbnb" campaign by BUCK. In the original, an isometric hotel seamlessly shifts and morphs into a real rental property listed on the app, while a voiceover tells a story of the little perks you just can't find in a hotel.
I loved them so much, I had to try to my own version.
I chose my favorite, local coffee shop, Little Owl, as the subject.
Not only was this an appreciation for their newest location in the LOHI neighborhood, it was a deep dive into Blender.
Upon entering the shop, it is immediately obvious how much thought and care went into every detail of the storefront. It was important to find the balance between a simplified, but recognizable version of each object's real life counterpart.
Every texture is the scene is made procedurally, the wood counter and the bricks top being the most complicated to create.
If you don't know what a procedural texture is: A typical texture is made from image files, whereas a procedural texture is built from a series of mathematical functions. This makes the overall file smaller, the texture have unlimited resolution, and makes it easier to map the texture onto an object. The third image shows the node tree that creates the wood texture.
